A Fat Tire Bike Week Photography Workshop

The mountains have always been a part of my life, since I grew up near the jagged peaks and vertical valleys of the Pyrenees in Spain. It was only a matter of time until I became avidly engaged in many of the sports and activities their majestic playgrounds offered, and later on I forged a way to earn a living doing so.
With the rise of mountain biking as a full-fledged sport came professional opportunity. I started working as a full-time editor-at-large for a bike publication based out of my home country--writing, shooting, and following events and races all over the world from my paradisiac base in Crested Butte. My stint with Solo Bici lasted 15 years and then I moved on to other outdoor type publications. With time, the photography side of my work has become my main focus and passion.
Mountains, bikes and photography are some of my favorite things in the world and it makes sense for me to offer a workshop in which I can provide others with the necessary tools that enable me to experience so much joy. In this half-day “in the field” workshop we’ll explore the exciting possibilities of landscape and action photography that mountain biking provides us with in the incomparable scenery and singletrack of Crested Butte.
What you’ll need: A mountain bike and an SLR camera (preferably with a wide angle lens , 17-50mm or
so shoud be fine). Bring some food, water and clothes as you would for a half day out riding.
What to expect: We’ll work on a variety of basic camera settings for both action and landscape photography. Practice freezing motion, panning shots, blurs, playing with depth of field, composition, and all we can get to!
Where & when: We’ll meet at Rainbow Park at 3pm and talk about
camera settings and such and then we’ll go for a nice bike ride (to be
decided) for our “in the field” practice.
How much: $50 per person (4 minimum)
